A Vacation of Firsts!

Last Wednesday night we got on the road and headed South! We stopped for the night in Valdosta and Thursday drove the rest of the way to Disney World! I have been wanting the take the girls for awhile and this seemed like the perfect time. The trip was wonderful! (minus the hot weather...Winter trip next time for sure!) Here are a "few" pictures from the trip from my camera. I can't wait to get some of the ones that Disney took for us...they are so good! I'll do another post when my CD gets here!

Day 1, Thursday September 20

The girls were giving tiaras & wands when we arrived! Here they are waiting for our bus to the Magic Kingdom!
The girls were in awe of Cinderella's Castle...the pictures of us in front will be on my CD...

First ride, the Carousal! This would become Sydney's favorite! Every time we would pass it or ask what ride they wanted to ride next she would say "Neigh, Neigh!" lol

September 20, 2006 Shawna proposed at Cinderella's castle after we had Dinner there that night. Well, exactly 6 years later we had dinner there again...this time with our 2 little girls! It's amazing how much can change in just 6 years! The girls loved the princesses! They met Cinderella, Belle, Ariel, Snow White, & Sleeping Beauty!

Day 2, Friday September 21

We headed to the Animal Kingdom and met up with a few familiar faces! Grandma, Papa, Nana, & Pawpaw! We all loved seeing all the animals, the shows, and the rides. Nana, Pawpaw, Grandma, & Papa stayed a little longer after we left and rode some more of the bigger rides. This was Nana & Pawpaw's first trip to Disney in about 20 years. At that time they only went to Epcot, so this was like their first time too seeing all the parks!

All wearing our 3D glasses for It's a Bugs Life!

That night we headed to Chef Mickey! I couldn't wait for the girls to meet Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, & Pluto! We had just gotten seated with our food when Donald came to our table....it didn't go quite like I thought it would! Sydney's lip came out and she started screaming. She had loved the princesses the night before, but she wasn't having anything to do with Donald. All night she kept saying "No Duck, No Duck!" She did warm up to Minnie!

Rylynne on the other hand LOVED seeing the characters. When we were leaving we passed by Goofy and she yelled out "Bye Goofy!"

Mickey the Chef! Rylynne kept saying "We are really at part of Mickey's Clubhouse!"
She was all smiles with her Ice-cream cone!

Day 3, Saturday September 22

Grandma's Birthday celebration at the Magic Kingdom! What better way to celebrate you Birthday! The only thing that could have made it better was if Brian could have made it down. He's really wrapped up in campaign work right now, so we'll just have to plan another trip when he can go too!

The Magic Kingdom, my favorite park...and the best one for the girls! Sydney's favorite ride as I said earlier was the Carousal, and Rylynne's was the "Scooter Train" as she called it or better known as the Barnstormer. (A kid friendly roller coaster!)

You'll notice I don't have alot of pictures from this day. I'm going to have to borrow Grandma & Nana's camera...our camera got smothered by a drink! :(

That night we grilled steaks at Grandma & Papa's camper and surprised Grandma with a Mickey cupcake before heading back to the park that night!

We said goodbye to Grandma, Papa, Nana, Pawpaw that night. They headed back home Sunday morning. It was GREAT having them there. We were so glad that they were there to experience the girls first trip with us.

Day 4, Sunday September 23

The day that could have been....When we started planning our trip and booking dinner & lunch reservations I kinda planned Sunday to be a take it easy day. Sleep in, go to Hollywood Studios for lunch, stay till late that afternoon, come back and swim at the resort swim park. This is how the day really went....slept in, got to Hollywood Studios around 11, did one show, walked around a little till our lunch time, ate lunch, and went back to the hotel for naps then went swimming. We only stayed at the park for 3 hours! I knew the girls were tired, I just didn't realize how tired until Rylynne started crying when there was no "little" sink in the restroom at lunch. (You see Disney thinks of everything...they almost always have little sinks for the kids that they can reach) When she cried over this I knew it was time to just call it quits and have a whole afternoon break from the parks. It really turned out to be alot of fun. The girls LOVED getting to go swimming. I learned from this trip that next time we go we definitely need one day of a break from the parks.
Day 4
Handy Manny at Lunch!

Jake from Jake & The Neverland Pirates!

They really do love each other!

Beach area at our resort
I'm not sure who had more fun at the kiddy section of the water park. haha Shawna loved it when the water dumped out!

Day 5, Monday September 24

Our last day at the park! We chose to go back to the Magic Kingdom. We started our morning having breakfast with Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, & Eeyore! Poor Sydney could not relax. She was constantly looking for characters and started crying every time she saw one. She did manage to smile for a few pictures. Rylynne once again LOVED it!

Later that morning we headed to the Main Street Barber Shop for the girls First Hair Cuts!!! I have been waiting to get their hair cut so that they could do the first cut here. They received a special certificate, a little bag with their first hair clippings, and a special Mickey Hat with "My First Haircut" embroidered in the back. They both did so good! Rylynne wasn't sure at first until I convinced her that this was where Rapunzel gets her hair cut too.

I don't know what they'll think when they have to go to a normal hair salon to get their hair cut. We may have spoiled them with this!

Such a cute set-up!

Rylynne was a little shy, but here she is with her new Mickey hat!

Sydney and that crazy smile! haha Notice all the Mickey stickers on her arm. They gave the girls about 10 stickers a piece to play with while they cut their hair.

Riding the Teacups!
Rylynne Hula-hooping before we left. I couldn't believe it when she actually got up there and did it! She is normally so shy, but not this time!

Sydney showing off her Mickey Waffle before we headed back home.

This was definitely a trip I'll never forget! Seeing the girls faces as they saw the castle, the characters, and all the sites and rides for the first time was priceless. Disney is just such a great place! We are already talking about another trip. Not sure exactly when, but we know we want to go before Rylynne starts Kindergarten...so probably next Winter! I am ready to go back now!

Minnie & All Her Clubhouse Friends! Sydney's 2nd Birthday!

It just doesn't seem real, but our little Sydney is now 2! Her birthday (September 4) fell in the middle of week so we celebrated all week long, but her "official" party was on Saturday! The theme this year was Minnie Mouse and all the Clubhouse Friends! I had so much fun planning this party. I wanted to stick to the traditional Red & White Minnie so I depended on Etsy & Pinterest to help me out!

Sydney had a great time! She had lots of guests and really seemed to enjoy herself. We had an inflatable slide, pinata (I made myself!), the most adorable cake made by Grandma, and all of her favorite snacks including PP&J sandwiches, Go-gurt, grapes & apples, Cheetos, Goldfish, &applesauce! Here are a "few" pictures from the party. It was so hard narrowing them down!

3 of the 5 Great Grandparents still living!
My girls are so blessed to get to know their Great Grandparents!

Grandma Strickland made this cake...she out did herself this year!

Yes, I made the pinata...not too bad huh? The only problem was my tape was a little too strong....it too lots of hits to start breaking it!

Cupcakes as Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, & Daisy!

The girls playing with Jared & Luke Sisson. I use to keep them when they were even younger than Rylynne & Sydney!

Treats for the treat bags included bubble, chalk, and Minnie Suckers
