Christmas Eve Late Afternoon....

When the girls were up from their afternoon naps we headed to my parents house to celebrate with them and Uncle Brian. They decided to let Rylynne have one of her gifts before dinner....a 4-Wheeler Power Wheels! She loved it.

We later sat down for dinner and then we opened gifts. We figured out a way to keep Rylynne interested....open up the toys! I guess otherwise they are just boxes to her! Once again Sydney watched as we opened her gifts. Uncle Brian surprised her with her first toy box! He did the same for Rylynne last year.

After gifts we got the girls ready for bed and headed home to get ready for Santa!
This is trouble!

Papa was holding Sydney when we opened her Pillow Pet. It was the cutest thing! She laid her head down and started rubbing it. Within a matter of seconds she was asleep!

Wow, I picture of just us! That doesn't happen too often anymore! haha

Christmas Eve Morning...

Christmas Eve worked out great! Shawna and I have both agreed that way we did it this year will become our "tradition." We started off with breakfast at Shawna's parents house (Nana & Pawpaw). Uncle T & Aunt Leah were there too of course! We enjoyed breakfast, then opened presents. Rylynne was still getting the hang of opening gifts. She opened a few then she was ready to play! Sydney did great too. She watched as Daddy opened her presents, then she was ready for a morning nap!

We were not rushed at all and were able to enjoy our morning! We headed home around noon for afternoon naps! During nap time, Shawna and I decided to give Santa a hand and start getting toys out of boxes and put together. We were so glad we did! I had no idea all the stickers, screws, etc that would be involved!

Connell Christmas 2010

Ok, so I WAY behind on here. I am going to skip straight to Christmas! We celebrated Christmas 5 times, so I will break it down by each one.

The celebrations started on the Sunday before Christmas. For the first time since I can remember, the Connell gang did not get together on Christmas Eve night. Everyone's family has gotten so big and we were all running in different directions on Christmas Eve and Christmas. So they decided to try something different this year. It was great! No one felt rushed and we were all able to enjoy the day. We gathered at Uncle Bobby and Aunt Susan's again this year. After singing Happy Birthday to Jesus, we all gathered around and Santa (aka Brian) made a special appearance!

First Christmas Family Photo this year.

Festival of Lights!

Mama and Daddy got us all tickets this year to go to Callaway Garden's Festival of Lights! It was so much fun! Just what we needed to get us into the Christmas spirit! Saying that Rylynne loved the lights is an understatement. I can't even tell you how many times she said "WOW!" She sat upfront in Uncle Brian's lap and we kept Sydney snuggled up in the back seat. Getting out of the carseats was a treat in it self! Sydney ended up sleeping through all the lights, but Rylynne never blinked an eye. She danced to the music, laughed, and was just amazed by it all.

After the lights we stopped into the Christmas Village. Santa was there along with a few other characters. Sydney woke up for this and got her picture with a couple of them. Rylynne wasn't too impressed with the characters. She would just look at them and wave saying "Bye."

We all had a great time. I can't wait till next year when Sydney is a little more into too. I bet they will be fighting over who gets to sit upfront with Uncle Brian next year!

This is as close as Rylynne wanted to get!

Sisters......

As Sydney has started getting more alert, Rylynne has decided it's time to start trying to play! She loves for Sydney to be in the floor with her to show her toys, books, etc. The other day Sydney was in her swing and I watched Rylynne go to the swing and show her one of her toys. Rylynne was showing her what all it did and Sydney just smiled so big. They are just too cute together!

Little Sydney is now 3 months old!!! She is getting so big! She smiles all the time now and trys to talk alot. She loves watching Rylynne play. I know she is just waiting until she can get down and play too!

Thanksgiving 2010

Thanksgiving is about family, giving thanks, and lots of eating! We had 4 Thanksgiving gatherings this year! So let's just say I can do without turkey and dressing till next Thanksgiving! Oh and Rylynne enjoyed a Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich instead of all the good food. That child is the pickiest eater I know!!!

Our first Thanksgiving meal, strike that, our first Thanksgiving FEAST was the Connell Thanksgiving at Uncle Donnie & Aunt Harriette's in Hollonville. This is held the night before Thanksgiving day. With 37 family members present it was a full house with lots of food! One of my favorites from this feast...the fresh corn! No one can beat fresh corn from the Connell farm!

Rylynne had a great time with all the cousins. There are now 15 great-grandkids and #16 was there but in Jennifer's belly. He or she will be here next year though! Aunt Harriette set up the garage for all the kids with tables, buckets of toys, and a coloring table. We didn't have to worry about Rylynne, she was very entertained! Sydney enjoyed it too, meeting some of the family for the first time!

The next stop, the Strickland Thanksgiving! Until these past few years, the Stricklands did not get together for Thanksgiving. Tiffaney decided to change that! This year we stopped by to visit for alittle while before heading to Shawna's family. I did have to sneak a small plate though. I just couldn't pass up Oma's turnip greens, Mama's sweet potato casserole, Aunt Pat's dressing, and Tiffaney's rice! There was alot to be thankful for here too, Uncle Jim got news the day before that he was cancer free!!!!!!

The 3rd stop....the Swafford Thanksgiving. This is Shawna's family. We gathered at Aunt Vickie and Uncle Dickie's house. Rylynne loved seeing her Pawpaw and Nana. Sydney ended up sleeping most of the day in Missy's arms! My favorite of this meal....Grandmother's Cranberry Pecan salad. It's funny, before Shawna and I started dating she said she was the only one who ate it. Now it's just her and I that eat it! But it's good!

Look at the cute Turkey dress! Mama got her and Sydney matching Thanksgiving dresses!

Sleeping away....dreaming of eating all the good food next year!

Last but not least....the day after Thanksgiving Dewayne hosted our First Annual Friends Thanksgiving Leftover meal! It really turned out to be more than just leftovers....Fried Chicken, Baked Chicken, Dressing, Mashed Potatos Corn Casserole, Mac-n-Cheese, Buffalo Chicken Dip, Strawberry Pretzel Salad, and more! Brian made our Grandmother's dressing for the first time, and I must say it was really good! He has come along way since boiling butter beans in vegetable oil instead of water! haha.....I am sure most of you know that story!

There was alot of be thankful for here too....Jacob got the good news that he too is cancer free!
